After discharge from the military, female veterans face several difficult challenges in finding employment including, but not limited to: being less likely to self-identify as veteran thus utilizing fewer government benefits; greater stigma regarding their military service; higher rates of mental illness and ptsd due to sexual trauma; and most programs aimed at helping veterans are disproportionately aimed at male veterans.
