Debate topic: The United States should attempt to contain China’s rise in order to protect the Liberal World Order (Affirmative team)
I will attach a document for you to look through, and its basically the report me and my team mates did.
Look through the points to know what we’re talking about, and also look at the “Notes area” at the end to kind of understand some of the draft ideas we have.
WHAT I NEED YOU TO DO: Basically me and my friend are doing the conclusion part of the debate and I want you to write me a little scriipt summarizing the points and restating our thesis.
This is some points my friend is mentioning(keep in mind this is her notes and not the scriipt):
* LWO → It has benefited the world greatly + its failures are not a reflection of its inability to be protected, and hence needs to continue to be defended (as long as there is no alternative system that can replace it effectively) + China is directly a threat to it based on the human rights values, its environmental impact and economic deals (even if its domestic policies are within its own boundaries and it has state sovereignty, the fact that China has influence worldwide means they cannot be intervened with – this is a threat to LWO!)

* US → It has to be the US who puts a containment policy that prevents China’s rise in influence from threatening the LWO that serves other nations best interests. IGOs are ineffective due to China’s influence in SC and the US has traditionally served as the global policeman for the LWO, making it fit and able to take them down. No one else can take the burden or wants to of global policing; US has primarily kept nations such as these in check.

* China’s rise → China is an irresponsible power that it is not fit to be a leader as seen from its environmental impacts or behavior in military, economics and human rights abuses.
