Preparation for Final Written Assignment
The final written assignment requires you to interview a manager from a health service organization. This will form the foundation for the final written assignment. The goal is to compare, contrast and evaluate the course concepts and theories taught in this course to the management practices of your interviewee and his/her organization.
How you interview that manager, the frequency of interviews, and what you include in the interview is up to you. The level of manager is usually mid to upper level; Chief Executive Officer, Chief Operating Officer, Comptroller or other Senior leader. This level of leadership generally has the information you need and can provide you with copies of documents that may be useful throughout the course. Materials could include Annual Reports, Study Reports on issues of importance for their organization, audit reports, access to managers, etc.
Contacting the manager now will also help to establish the rapport needed for any assistance regarding the final course evaluation. Towards that end, this discussion will permit you as a group to
Share with each other the manager you plan to select to interview. Provide the name of that manager, the type of agency, the services rendered by that agency, population served and your access to that manager. Sharing this information will assist you to decide if you will remain with the selection or need to select someone else.
Build the interview questions that should be asked. This is an opportunity to develop the interview questions as a group and to use the concepts and terms you are learning to date. Please make sure you source the questions using the readings.
This ungraded discussion is open for the entire module 2 (weeks 3-5) so you can share and build upon each others’ ideas and information. The quality of this work will also assist in addressing the written assignment in this module. The written assignment will illustrate the depth and scope of your knowledge.
