I started the report and have the introduction done if you would like to build off it. Should be under 550 words with 3 graphs needed in the report and only 2.5 pages allowed. I will also include the Restaurant Sales Spreadsheet below with all the data needed for the report.

Overview:

You have been hired by an investment group that wants to learn more about what drives restaurant sales. You have been provided a sample of 173 restaurants located in a medium-sized city. You know the restaurants’ average weekly sales, as well as a number of other variables such as food type, if has road frontage, number of competitors within a certain distance, etc. See the legend on the right side of the Excel spreadsheet for definitions of all variables. You have been working with this data set (coding dummy variables and categorical variables).

Your task is to help the investor better understand the data that has been collected. What can they learn from this data set?

This assignment is open-ended by design. As the consultant, you will make decisions about what you wish to analyze and communicate to your client. You will analyze this information USING ONLY the tools that we have learned so far in this course. But you should strive to be as thorough as you can, given the length requirement (see below).

AGAIN, THERE IS A THOUGHT ORGANIZER POSTED IN THE MODULE THAT MIGHT HELP YOU IF YOU ARE HAVING TROUBLE COLLECTING YOUR THOUGHTS. EVERYONE SHOULD TAKE A LOOK AT THIS, AS IT HELPS TO SET EXPECTATIONS.

Audience:

Your audience is your client, the investment group. You can assume that your audience has some very basic knowledge of statistics, and you should explain the implications of statistics you generate to this audience. (They understand mean, median, mode–the basics–but might not fully understand concepts like standard deviation, percentiles, etc. so those require some explanation as to what the information is communicating. They might understand basics graphs but you need to be sure they understand the “takeaways” of your graphs. Do not “orphan” the graphs.)

Instructions:

This should be styled as a report with brief intro or executive summary, a discussion of the data with a clear organizational structure, and conclusion.
You are limited ONLY to the statistical topics we have covered such as mean, median, mode, standard deviation, central tendency, and percentiles for example.
Your analysis should do it’s best to communicate a variety of information.
Your analysis must include at least 3 different graphs and no more than 4. They must be different types of graphs that communicate different information. (A table is not a graph. You may have those as well, but they are in addition to graphs.)
Graphs should be large enough read (if they are not then it will detract from grades) but no so large that they waste tons of space (you don’t get credit for graphs that are oversized as a way of lengthening the report).
Do not stretch out graphs in order to take up more space…this decreases your content and will impact your grade. I know you guys understand what I mean.
Be sure the font inside graphs is readable (both color and font size are appropriate).
Please have a blank line before and after tables and graphs and before section headings.
Consider putting two graphs next to each other (see the video on how to do this) as to not waste a lot of space.
REMEMBER THAT A TABLE IS NOT A FIGURE. A CORR MATRIX IS A TABLE, NOT A FIGURE. YOU CAN HAVE TABLES BUT THEY DO NOT COUNT TOWARDS THE 3 FIGURE REQUIREMENT.
Your report may be no more than 2.5 pages in length.
This means you must think about what to focus on. This is part of the “open-endedness” of the assignment.
COACHES WILL NOT READ BEYOND 2.5 PAGES.
You cannot do a good job if you are much less than this length.
Please do NOT use a title page. Just put your name in the upper margin/header so you do not waste space. (It slows coaches down when they have to scroll past a title page.)
Please use 12-point font and 1-inch margins.
Paper will be single-spaced, but with a blank line before/after figures and tables and headings in order to make it readable.
You do NOT need to cite any data source.
Need to be written in third person.
